Council will be replacing the culverts at the Maud and Augusta streets intersection, Mirani, as the infrastructure has reached the end of its useful life.
Works will begin on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, weather permitting. The project is expected to be completed within four weeks, weather permitting.
The works will be completed in three stages to reduce impacts on surrounding residents and motorists.
Stage one - Culvert demolition and installation works
A road closure will be in place at Augusta Street with detours in place.
The closed section of Augusta Street will be local access only via Mary Street.
Stage one is expected to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Stage two - Asphalt works
Traffic control, which includes single-lane traffic and reduced speed zones, will be in place at Augusta Street. Minimal traffic delays are expected.
Stage two is expected to take one week to complete, weather permitting.
Stage three – Footpath works
Two-lane traffic will be maintained on Augusta Street, however the road shoulder will be closed and a detour for pedestrians will be in place.
Stage three works are expected to be completed within one week, weather permitting.
Throughout the project, access to Mirani State School and the bus stop on Maud Street will be maintained. One of the disabled car parking bays on Augusta Street will be unavailable for the duration of the works.
There will be some noise and dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on-site.
We thank you for your patience during these essential works.
