The last five years has seen our region transformed.
While it’s the economic adjustment that usually gains headlines, closer to home our communities have also undergone changes.
With this in mind, Mackay Regional Council has now developed a new Community Development Strategy, with the community's help, to address your needs and aspirations.
Please have a read of the revised Strategy and feel free to sign the guest book with your comments.
It is great to see a CD Strategy that strongly reflects on the community needs and is basically based on what the residents want the Mackay region to be like. The Strategy has main 5 areas of focus and clearly states what the community feedback was, and what the gaps and the strengths are now. That feedback gives the direction for the development, and it was important to see the main goals and how the progress is going to be measured. Looking forward to seeing the Action Plan for this Strategy. From my personal perspective I think it would probably be good to have a bigger consultation for the next planning, as 224 survey responses seemed a bit low for me. However, I understand that there would be objective reasons for it like access to internet, computer skills, advertisement reach, etc.
The Action Plan will be very important & I will be keen to see how that looks
