Cyclones, bushfires and floods...natural disasters can happen anytime and anywhere.
To help residents be "Disaster Ready", council will be holding two Disaster Ready Saturday events.
Event 1: Disaster Ready Saturday Date: Saturday, October 11, 2025 Time: 9am to 1pm Location: Caneland Central Shopping Centre near Peter Alexander
Event 2: Disaster Ready Saturday Date: Saturday, October 18, 2025 Time: 9am to 1pm Location: Sarina Beach Road Shopping Centre near the IGA
Residents will be able to speak to a diverse range of emergency experts including council's Emergency Management Team, State Emergency Services, Queensland Fire Department (Fire and Rescue), Queensland Police Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and more.
You will also be able to pick up a free emergency information bag and anyone who attends a Disaster Ready Saturday event or fills in the online Disaster Ready survey on Connecting Mackay will go into the draw to win a Honda Generator worth more than $2,300 thanks to Mackay Outdoor Power Centre.
The Disaster Ready survey will be live on this page from 9am, Saturday, October 11 until 11.59PM, Wednesday, October 22.
