Project update #9 - October 31, 2022

Council is commencing the concept phase for the first public realm, connectivity and placemaking project within Finch Hatton, to support the Pioneer Valley Mountain Bike project and local businesses.

As Finch Hatton is envisaged to become the principal trail town, upgrades to basic public realm infrastructure on Mackay-Eungella Road and Anzac Parade are required to improve connectivity for people walking, cycling, and micro-mobility use (such as shared footpaths, safe pedestrian crossings and high-quality and resilient paved surface treatments), as well as accessibility (parking) and public amenity (street furniture, signage to attractions, landscaping, shade, and opportunities for outdoor activities).

Three consultants assisting council with this project will be walking around Finch Hatton on the first and second of November, 2022. They will be accompanied by the project’s strategic planner to further understand the movement patterns and character of the township.
