Project update #21 - December 17, 2021

The Finch Hatton trailhead will be a place where you start and finish your mountain bike adventure.

A master plan concept for the Finch Hatton Trailhead site has been developed following extensive consultation with the Pioneer Valley community, as well as workshops with key project stakeholders and internationally recognised trail experts, World Trail.

Mayor Greg Williamson said earlier this year (April), three concept designs were released to the public for feedback.

During the workshops and online community consultation period, there was overwhelming support for concept 1 and 2 and a landscape buffer zone between the residential properties and the trailhead,” Mayor Williamson said.

We listened, and the master plan reflects community and industry feedback,” he said.

The plan also includes historical features, a pump track, and facilities that create a destination for general socialising as well as support mountain bike riders including amenities block, event set up area/overflow parking and a connection to the trails.

The Pioneer Valley Mountain Bike Trail project will now move into detailed design, and the master plan will provide a solid basis for this work.

A hard copy of the master plan will also be made available at the Mirani Customer Service Centre and the Mirani and Dudley Denny Libraries.

The Queensland Government has contributed $500,000 towards design elements of the project including detailed design of the trailhead and environmental assessments.
