Harbour Road/Ron Searle Drive shared path is open and ready for public use.
This vital piece of infrastructure provides an additional 2.6 kilometres of shared path and boardwalk to the network, commencing at the Vine’s Creek Bridge on Harbour Road (south bound side) and continuing along to Ron Searle Drive.
Crossover points are also provided to ensure connection to the other side of Harbour Road.
This project provides a continuous shared path from the Mackay Harbour into the city centre connecting to the existing Bluewater Trail.
The path consists of concrete and elevated composite fibre boardwalks in areas where mangrove habitats need to be protected.
This project was funded by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, with contributions from Mackay Regional Council and is aimed at better connecting our pedestrians and bike riders to our city centre.
