Following extensive community consultation council adopted the Hibiscus Coast Local Resilience Plan in 2023.
The plan can be found here - mackay.qld.gov.au/residents/emergency_management/local_resilience_plans
Hibiscus Coast residents had the opportunity to share and discuss details about previous natural hazards and issues to help develop a Local Resilience Plan for their area.
The purpose of the Local Resilience Plan is to:
- Support people, communities, organisations and businesses to understand their risks and roles, and encourage resilience actions to improve community outcomes after disasters.
- Identify actions and improvements across all roles and responsibilities to reduce risks, limit risks increase and enhance resilience for the future.
The Hibiscus Coast Local Resilience Plan will be the pilot plan for other regions going forward.
This project was jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments’ Queensland Resilience and Risk Reduction Fund and Mackay Regional Council.
