Mackay’s very own, permanent nine-hole disc golf course has officially opened at John Breen Park just in time for the festive season.

It’s a family-friendly sport, which can be played socially or competitively and can help improve and develop problem solving skills and concentration.

The project, which was driven by the Mackay Disc Golf Club, has been made possible with funding from Mackay Regional Council’s Community Investment Grants program, Daly Bay, Kingfisher Disc Golf and Mount Pleasant Tavern.

Visit Know Your Burb for everything you need to know before starting a game of disc golf.

Work will start in late-October to bring an exciting new sporting activity to North Mackay.

A project, driven by Disc Golf Mackay, will see the region’s first permanent course built at John Breen Park.

During construction, small sections of the park will be cordoned off, however, the playground, dog park, walking trails, skatepark and toilets will still be accessible.

There will also be some minor noise disturbance with various plant and equipment on site. We appreciate your patience while these exciting upgrades are under way.

The course is expected to be completed and available for use by the public in early-December, weather permitting. Visit council's Know Your Burb website for information on how to play once construction is completed.

The permanent course has been made possible thanks to funding from council’s Community Investment Grants program and Daly Bay.
