Mackay Regional Council is making road safety improvements to John Cook Bridge with the installation of new hazard markers, pavement marking and rail signage.

Contactor Pentacon Pty Ltd will start work from late April, 2026, with construction expected to be completed by mid May 2026, weather permitting.

Work will take place Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 6pm, and Saturdays as required from 7am to 5pm.

Traffic control will be in place for the duration of the work with single lane access maintained to John Cook Bridge. Please adhere to all roadside signage and the directions of traffic control.

Access to the rowing club and boat ramp will be temporarily impacted while new gravel is laid to the entry. Some minor noise and dust disturbances may be associated with this work.
