Project update - August 2025

The contractor, WHF, has completed works to repair the shade structure over Kemmis Park skatepark in South Mackay.

The Kemmis Park Skatepark will close from Monday, July 14, to allow for important repairs to the shade structure.

The works will ensure the long-term usability of the facility and continue to provide a safe and enjoyable space for the community.

The skatepark will be closed for the duration of the works. The works are expected to be completed mid-August, 2025.

The footpath around the perimeter of the park will remain open.

Contractor, WHF, will undertake the works between 6.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays from 7am to 5pm, as required.

There may be some noise associated with these works. However, appropriate controls will be implemented to minimise any impact to residents. 

Council appreciates the community’s patience while these essential works are completed.

    Kemmis Park skatepark is ready for springtime skating

    The contractor, WHF, has completed works to repair the shade structure over Kemmis Park skatepark in South Mackay.

    The repairs included replacing a portion of the skylights with Colourbond sheeting to increase sun safety and extend the life of the facility. Rest assured, the height of the structure means there’ll still be plenty of natural light.

    Other works included redirecting the stormwater to reduce the flow of water into the bowl during weather events and new roof sheeting on the nearby rotunda.
