Disconnecting the old water tower (November 28)

After successful testing of the new Koumala Water Treatment Plant, contractor Clean Teq Water will be disconnecting the old Koumala Water Tower on Monday, November 28.

The works will include removing three underground valves and installing a new section of watermain pipe.

As a result of these works, traffic control will be in place on Water Tower Road and there will be intermittent water interruptions throughout the day. Please ensure you have adequate water supply during these works.

The contractor will be onsite from 7am to 5pm and the works are expected to be completed within the day.

After the completion of these works, Koumala residents will be accessing their water supply through the new Koumala Water Treatment Plant.

The new $2 million plant is a joint initiative of Mackay Regional Council and the Queensland Government to reduce the hardness of the town’s water supply.

Council would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation during this project.

Should you have any questions, please contact council’s project manager Graeme Cox on 1300 MACKAY (622 529).
