Mackay Regional Council and Reef Catchments Mackay are working together to remediate Little McCreadys Creek in Rural View.
The project aims to rejuvenate the natural values of the waterway, which has lost much of its environmental value due to development in the area.
The project area is 720m in length, commencing at Mackay-Bucasia Road and extending through to
Dawson Boulevard.
The remediation of this creek will not only be of benefit to the environment, but will generate social and economic benefits by restoring the natural beauty of the waterway.
These local ecosystems are critical in providing habitat for a wide variety of fauna, as well as improving water quality before entering estuarine or marine habitats.
A Community BBQ and Information Session will be held on Saturday 4 July for those local residents interested in being involved. Please see the attached flyer under 'Document Library' for further information about the BBQ.
If you have any questions about this project, please contact Stefanie Wabnik (Reef Catchments) on 4968 4225 or email Council at engagement@mackay.qld.gov.au.
