Project update: April 17, 2025
Construction works associated with the revegetation of the foreshore area adjacent to the McEwens Beach swimming enclosure are starting soon.
The scope of work is based on community feedback gathered between January and April 2025 and will include:
- Installation of two picnic settings on a single concrete slab on the southern side of the walkway that provides access to the swimming enclosure.
- Installation of new fencing to define and protect the new planting area.
- Cutting back of selected coconut palms to their stumps within the new planting area.
Work is expected to start from Monday, April 28, 2025, and is due to be completed by late-May, 2025, weather permitting.
Access to the swimming enclosure will be closed during construction. Alternate access to the beach will be available via Aura Street car park.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and we thank you for your patience and cooperation.
