Mackay Regional Council wishes to advise contractor Downer will be undertaking underground drainage works in Oak Street, Andergrove, on council’s behalf. The Oak Street upgrade project is being undertaken in three stages. The first stage was completed during 2023 and involved stormwater relining.

Stage 2 works will begin on Monday, July 28, weather permitting. These works are expected to be completed late November 2025. Please refer to map below.

Works will be undertaken from 6.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Some weekend work may also be required.

Two-lane traffic will be maintained for the majority of the project with reduced speed zones in place.

During August 2025, single-lane traffic with reduced speed zones is expected to be in place for a two-week period, weather permitting. The contractor will make every effort to avoid traffic disruptions during peak traffic times.

While works are under way, property access will be affected to some properties. These residents will be contacted 48 hours prior to any disruption.

Some on-street parking may be unavailable near the area of works during work hours.

Stage 3, the final stage of the Oak Street upgrade project, is expected to commence during 2026. At this time, council will undertake pavement rehabilitation works, including kerb replacement, to improve the road’s surface.

There will be some noise and dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on-site.

We thank you for your patience during these essential works.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact council’s Community Engagement team on 1300 MACKAY (622 529) or engagement@mackay.qld.gov.au
