Mackay Regional Council wishes to advise that contractor Seaforth Civil will be recommencing works to upgrade the culverts on Petrie Street in East Mackay from mid-July, 2025. Please refer to map below.

The works include:

  • The installation of fish-friendly flood gates.
  • The installation of trash racks to collect pollution.
  • A gravel track from Petrie Street to Bridge Road for maintenance purposes.
  • Works in the drain between Keelan and Digby streets.

The works will be undertaken from 6.30am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. Some work on Sundays may be required. These works are expected to be completed by late-October, 2025, weather permitting.

Reduced speed zones will be in place for the section of Petrie Street, near the culverts, for the duration of the project. Traffic control, with single-lane traffic, will be in place for certain aspects of the works. Please follow all traffic signage and directions. During the works, there will be no interruption to the bus service.

There will be some noise and minor dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on-site.
