Mackay Regional Council wishes to advise that contractor D&M Composites Pty Ltd will be replacing the aged timber beach access ramp in Shoal Point Park with a new, contemporary all-abilities ramp. The project will also improve pathways through the park and enhance connections to the carpark and nearby public amenities.
As part of these works, the disabled car parking will be formalised and new playground fencing will be installed along the park frontage to improve safety for children and other park users.
The works will begin on Friday, February 27, weather permitting, and are expected to be completed late May, 2026. Works will be undertaken from 6.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Temporary closures of sections of the park will be required as construction progresses. Works will start at the carpark end of the park and the new all‑abilities ramp will be completed last. During that final stage, beach access will be temporarily closed to the public.
The playground will remain open throughout the project. The playground will remain open during the works. As the works progress, picnic shelters will be unavailable.
Traffic control, including single‑lane closures and reduced speed limits, will be in place at times. Some noise and dust should also be expected while machinery is operating on-site.
We thank you for your patience during these essential works.
