Shoal Point water main upgrade

Mackay Regional Council wishes to advise we will be replacing an aged water main at Shoal Point Road, to increase the reliability of the water network. Please refer to map below.

Investigation works for the site have been undertaken. Construction will begin on Monday, July 21, weather permitting. The works are expected to be completed in December 2025.

Works will be undertaken from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Some weekend work may also be required. As part of the project some night works may be necessary. Noise-impacted residents would be notified at least 48 hours prior to the night works commencing.

Traffic control, which includes single-lane traffic and reduced speed zones, will be in place during the first stage of the project in a section of Seychelles Road, Beachway Boulevard and Shoal Point Road for the first stage of the project, as indicated on the map overleaf. Minimal traffic delays are expected. This traffic disruption is expected to take 14 weeks, weather permitting.

While works are under way, property access will be affected to some residences. Should this apply, you will be contacted 48 hours prior to any interruption.

Stage 2 of the project, as indicated on the map below, will follow the completion of Stage 1. During Stage 2 works there are no expected to be any traffic disruptions. The second stage of the project is expected to take 4 weeks.

Water interruptions are expected during this project, however residents will receive 48-hours’ notice of any water interruption and every effort will be made to ensure interruptions are scheduled at a time that will have the least impact.

There will be some noise and dust disturbances with various plant and equipment on-site.
