Changes to traffic conditions near Fig Tree Bridge, Calen-Mt Charlton Road

An in-depth inspection of Fig Tree Bridge on Calen Mount Charlton Road has taken place in preparation for rehabilitation works (forecast to start in 2026). The inspection has revealed further deterioration of the bridge structure.

To ensure the safety of motorists, a 5-tonne (5t) load limit is in place on the bridge and the speed zone has been reduced to 40km/hour.

There is no through access for vehicles over 5t on Calen-Mount Charlton Road. Vehicles over 5t must take an alternative route.

Please note, this restriction is effective from today (Friday, December 12). It is a temporary measure until the rehabilitation works are completed.
