Speed limit reduction on Calen-Mount Charlton and Head-Menkens roads

Following the recent engineering inspections, the decision has been made to reduce the speed limit at St Helens Creek Bridge and Pig Creek Bridge on Calen-Mount Charlton Road and at Alligator Creek Bridge on Head-Menkens Road to 40km/hour for the safety of the road’s users.

Please note, this restriction is effective from today (Tuesday, December 23, 2025. It is a temporary measure until the rehabilitation works are completed.

Reminder, there is also no through access for vehicles over 5t on Calen-Mount Charlton Road due to a 5t load limit at Figtree Bridge. Vehicles over 5t must take an alternative route.

The rehabilitation works are being scheduled for 2026, outside of the wet season, wherever possible.
