Project update: July 2026

As part of the ongoing Gooseponds Park upgrades, three trees will be removed to allow construction works to proceed safely and to deliver the path improvements.

While the removal of mature trees is never undertaken lightly, every effort has been made during the design process to minimise impacts on existing vegetation.

To enhance the park's long-term amenity and environmental value, 23 new trees will be planted along Hicks Street as part of the upgrade works.

Seven new trees will also be installed in a location nearby to the removed trees.

The new tree species will include weeping paperpark (Melaleuca leucadendra), broad-leaved paperbark (Melaleuca viridiflora), rain tree (Samanea saman), damson plum (Terminalia sericocarpa) and Moreton Bay ash (Corymbia tessellaris).

These new plantings will help strengthen the park's tree canopy, improve shade and contribute to the overall appearance of the area.
