Council is currently reviewing options for the building and services. No final decision has been confirmed through the review process. The new library at the Northern Beaches Community Hub is due to open in early 2027, and Council is planning how services will be delivered once that opens.

With a new library planned as part of the Northern Beaches Community Hub, council is taking the opportunity to consider a consolidated model for library services north of the city. Council is also looking at different service delivery models to help manage the Hub’s ongoing operating costs, which are expected to be about $2 million per year.

One option being considered is repurposing the building into a broader community-council facility with meeting rooms and staff office space, similar to the Jubilee Community Centre in Mackay’s City Centre. The review will confirm what option is recommended.

As part of the review, council will look at retaining limited services at the current site—for example, a reserved book collection point. Any final service model will be confirmed once the review is completed.

You can continue to use existing library services as normal. Dudley Denny City Library is also available in the City Centre, and the new Hub library in the Northern Beaches is planned to open in early 2027.
