Consultation has concluded

An integrated and connected transport system, that is both safe and efficient, is critical to the development and growth of the Mackay region’s economy, as well as the liveability and quality of life for people within our region.

With the anticipated population growth across the region, changes to the regional economy, and the emerging function of technology in our society - having a clear vision and strategy for the transport network is critical for Mackay Regional Council.

Council commenced the development of the Mackay Regional Integrated Transport Strategy (MRITS) project in late 2019. Following a stakeholder engagement and consultation process, the MRITS was adopted by Mackay Regional Council on 14 July 2021.

The MRITS establishes the vision and sets the strategic directions for an integrated transport and land use system to 2036. This is supported by strategic objectives and strategic outcomes that will help to achieve the vision. An action plan has also been developed as part of the strategy, which will be used to guide the implementation of the strategy over time.
