Muller Park playground renewal

PROJECT UPDATE
The detailed design for the playground at Muller Park is now complete.
Click here to find out more.
The playground in Muller Park was recently closed to the public due to the unsafe condition of the rubber softfall.
The play equipment, which was close to 25 years old and in poor condition, has now been removed.
The area is being transformed into turfed, open space for the community to utilise.
The other amenities in the park including parking, public toilets, barbecues and seating will be open for use while a new playground design is being completed.

Concept image - this image is for illustrative purposes only.Kids will be able to enjoy a roofed play tower that offers shaded space underneath for younger children, a large covered slide, a smaller open slide and an activity net paired with a climbing wall.
Additional play equipment will include a rope spinner, seesaw, rocker, activity panel and basket swing, all set on softfall. The play area will also be expanded to include a fully fenced, turfed free-play zone.
Upgrades will also provide:
- A fully fenced playground area, along with extended playground safety fencing along Boundary Road, connecting to the existing vehicle barrier near the carpark to improve safety while enjoying the park.
- A new shade structure over the play equipment where the existing natural tree cover doesn’t provide adequate protection during the day.
- New concrete paths from Boundary Road and Rainlover Street, to improve access to the playground.
- Additional shade trees planted around the playground area, to provide increased natural shading for free play as the trees mature.
The existing picnic shelters and seating will be kept with the new pathway to provide better connectivity between the park and play space.
We appreciate the time the community has taken to provide valuable input into this project helping ensure the space meets the needs of community.
With the design now completed, preparations for construction will start with works on the new playground expected to begin from mid-2027.

Project update: March 21, 2025

The announcement comes after the play equipment was removed late last year due to its age and poor condition.
Extensive consultation was undertaken with the community in November 2024, including a community consultation session at Muller Park (Monday, November 4) and an online survey (November 4 to 25), providing the community with an opportunity to choose their favourite play equipment option.
The play equipment options presented to the community were:
- Tower Fun
- Adventure Climb
- Dig Site
- Swing Park
- Ninja Warrior Course
- Jump and Bounce.
Out of the six options, Tower Fun had the most votes during all the community engagement activities.

Tower Fun caters for a wide age range (0-14 years) and offers many types of play that allow kids to play quietly or in a group, be active or imaginative, or enjoy the free space.
Little ones will be able to explore the shaded lower-level areas, while the older kids climb to the top.
Responding to the community’s feedback, council has decided to install the Tower Fun play equipment at Muller Park.
Online feedback also suggested the need for additional fencing around the playground. As a result, the new playground will be fully fenced and feature softfall underfoot.

What’s next? The detailed design is expected to be completed by early next year with construction forecast to commence in the second half of the 2025/2026 financial year.
