Project update: August 17, 2026

Stage 2 works to install the new access chambers (pits) along Shakespeare Street will start from Monday, August 17.

To minimise noise impacts for residents, most of the works will be completed between 6am and 5pm.

From Monday, August 17, work will take place between Carlyle and Moore streets.
From Wednesday, August 26, work will take place between Moore and Gold streets.
From Monday, September 7 to Saturday, September 12, work at the intersection of Goldsmith and Shakespeare streets will take place at night (6pm to 6am) with the intersection partially closed to traffic.
From Friday, September 11, work will take place between Goldsmith and Creal streets.
From Monday, September 21, work will take place between Sydney and Carlyle streets.

During daytime works, traffic flow will be maintained with at least one lane to remain open wherever possible. Some intersections may require short closures.

On-street parking will be closed to allow for traffic flow. Residents should ensure their vehicles are removed from on-street parking along Shakespeare Street for the duration of Stage 2 works.

To avoid traffic delays, please detour via East Gordon Street or Evan Street for the duration of the works.

There are noise and dust disturbances expected with these works.

Stage 3 works (relining) will commence from Monday, September 21, weather permitting.

To ensure the works are completed before the wet season, these works will be 24 hours in duration from Monday to Friday. Works are expected to be completed by Friday, October 9.
