Warland St open drain reconstruction - stage 1,2 & 3
Works are underway on stage 1,2 & 3 of the Warland Street open drain reconstruction.
The drain is being reconstructed from Paradise Street to Warland Street and Warland Street to Milton Street in South Mackay to help reduce flooding in the area.
The works are being completed by contractor Bellwether and will be carried out Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 6.30pm and Saturday, 7am to 4pm.
These works are expected to be completed by June 2022, weather permitting.
As part of the project, the vegetation and trees in the drainage reserve will be removed to allow for the construction of the new drain and a number of fences will be replaced to be in line with property boundaries.
Property owners whose fences require replacement have been consulted, and the contractor will door-knock these properties prior to the commencement of these works.
During construction, residents will not be able to utilise the drainage reserve and traffic control will be in place on Paradise, Warland and Milton streets to allow work vehicles to enter/exit the work area. Please adhere to all signage and instructions.
There will be some minor noise and dust disturbances associated with these works, however appropriate controls will be in place to minimise these disturbances.
Should you have any questions or concerns about this project, please contact council’s project manager Chris Martin on 1300 MACKAY (622 529).
